Mary Harms sits at her desk typing diligently on her computer, she’s swamped with planning upcoming events for Bishop Kenny High School Alumni.

Harms is an Advancement Associate at Kenny, or at least she thinks so.

Harms said “It’s funny, I don’t think I have a title. I guess, I would be an Advancement Associate.”

Harms has been working at Bishop Kenny (BK) for seven years but her ties to BK go deeper as she graduated from the class of 1993. Her kids either went, are going or plan to go to BK. There is Hannah, who graduated from Kenny in 2020, Parker, who is a senior this year and Michael, who is in 7th grade but plans to attend Kenny in two years. Harms’ face lights up as she discusses her kids.

Before coming back to work at Kenny Harms was a stay at home mom, but before her kids were born she worked in real estate, working for a broker who sold land. Talking about her former job Harms did not speak with the same enthusiasm she does when regarding Kenny.

Since Harms attended school here she thinks BK has only changed for the better.

Harms said “BK has a great group of alumni, people love to come back, and  I love when you take them around campus, and they see all the improvements, but you still get that same feeling as when I was here a million years-ago.”

“I’ve always had a soft spot for Kenny.” Harms said. “I was in charge of my reunions, I always liked to comeback. I was the one who always looked back on high school with fond memories.”

Harms decided to come work for Bishop Kenny when her oldest child, Hannah, started as a freshman. She had some former experience working the auction for San Juan Del Rio, which led her to working in the advancement office.

With a smile on her face, followed by a laugh Harms said “Go Crusaders!”
