Homemade Lemonade

1 cup lemon juice (about 6 lemons)

zest of 2 lemons

⅔ cup sugar

8 cups water


  1. Zest 2 lemons and set aside
  2. Juice 6 lemons, or until you get 1 cup of juice
  3. Pour 3 cups of water, the lemon zest, and sugar into a saucepan and bring to a boil stirring occasionally 
  4. Strain lemon juice and pour into a pitcher
  5. Strain the lemon zest, simple syrup mixture, and add to the pitcher
  6. Fill the picture with the remainder of the water and chill
