Fall Feud

As the temperature drops, a fall-flavored drink and snack is the perfect way to celebrate the season. When going to pick up this fall treat, two coffee shops come to mind: Starbucks and Dunkin’.

As for Starbucks’s fall menu, they returned with the Pumpkin Spice Latte, which comes hot or iced. They also introduced their new Apple Crisp Macchiato and Shaken Espresso, which has received reviews of having an acquired taste. However, their Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte has received the most positive reviews, mostly from influencers on TikTok. As for food, they brought back their Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin, Owl Cake Pop and they also introduced the Baked Apple Croissant, which has also received raving reviews on social media.

I’ve tried the Apple Crisp, but it wasn’t my favorite. However, I really enjoyed all of the pumpkin spice drinks, the Pumpkin Cream Chai Latte was my favorite. It was the perfect afternoon pick me-up with hints of pumpkin and chai spices.

Dunkin’ also has an extensive fall menu. According to their website, they boast two main fall drinks, their Pumpkin Spice Latte and Nutty Pumpkin Coffee, which has a bold flavor of roasted nuts. However, where they really shine is in their food options, which outnumber Starbucks’s by a large amount. In their bakery, they offer pumpkin donuts as well as donut holes, and pumpkin muffins. Also, they have breakfast options, with their maple sugar bacon, which comes in a snacking size as well as in a complete breakfast sandwich. They also have made a deal with Goldfish to create pumpkin spice graham crackers, selling in grocery stores countrywide.

The Nutty Pumpkin was not my favorite, due to a very strong hazelnut flavor and little to no pumpkin spices. However, the price point for a small latte was about three dollars, which is very economical compared to Starbucks.

Overall, it’s hard to say which coffee shop I liked better when it comes down to the pumpkin spice. Both had a great fall menu, and I enjoyed tasting both however, I liked Starbucks the best. Their Pumpkin Cream Chai Latte was fabulous when it came down to flavor, and although it had a higher price point (costing about six dollars), the flavor made up for it.
