Dancing has always been a major role in junior Natalie Boleky’s life. She started dancing when she was just three years old at Nancy Dance Studio. She had been competing since she was a child and dance quickly became a passion of hers.
”It’s given me many friendships and taught me many things,” Boleky said. “Even though sometimes it can get overwhelming I’ve found it as an escape and something I really love.”
When Boleky was just an incoming freshman, Bishop Kenny started a dance team for the first time in several years. She was excited when she heard this because growing up, she was never involved in her middle school due to a conflicting dance schedule.
As Boleky entered her junior year, she applied for a leadership position on the BKHS Elite Dance Team. She wanted to find a way to be even more involved in the team and be able to share her passion with the other teammates. She was announced co-captain at the first football game and has carried that title since.
“Being a co-captain has helped me be more involved in the team by having a leadership role and has been really fun and all together, really enjoyable,” Boleky said.
Aside just being on a dance team at BKHS, she also managed to balance a competition team schedule for her first two years on the team. She finds that dance can be a way of escaping from the outside world and school drama and focusing on something she is passionate about. Boleky noted it was hard work to have to give both teams 100% but she never failed to do it with a smile.
