The yearly Australian Open has come to an end once again, and this open caught the eyes of many people on and off the court.
On the court, Madison Keys was destroying the court from the start of the open by taking her first opponent in two straight sets.
Keys continued to destroy the competition and beat World No. 6, which advanced her to the quarter finals of the Australian Open. From here, Keys finished strong in her semifinals match against Iga Świątek, and claimed the second set, and won a very close tiebreaker for the third set and victory.
The final between Keys, World No. 19, and Aryna Sabalenka, World No. 1, was a fight for both players. Both of them played with outstanding shots and created great stats by the end of the match, but only one person could win, and Keys took up the title of the 2025 Australian Open Women’s Champion.
During Key’s time in the Australian Open, she defeated six players from the top ten in the world, when she wasn’t even in the top ten herself.
Key’s performance was truly inspiring and incredible to watch.
Over on the men’s side of the tournament, there were many twists and turns.
One thing that hit the news hard was when Novak Djokovic was booed off the courts after he lost the first set and withdrew from the match due to an injury.
Prior to the match, Djokovic’s opponent, Alexander Zverev, addressed the crowd and asked them not to boo Djokovic just because of his withdrawal due to injury.
According to dailymail.co.uk, Zverev said to the crowd that “He (Djokovic) has won this tournament with an abdominal tear, a hamstring tear. If he cannot continue with this match, it means he really can’t continue.”
In addition to the crowd, according to bleacherrepoert.com, Ben Shelton addressed the reporters in a press conference after one of his matches saying that he has been shocked by the rudeness of some reporters throughout the tournament.
For example, Shelton had a reporter yell to him that he would never be the crowd favorite especially against his next competition because he is from Australia. Additionally, according to bleacherreport.com, a reporter mocked Djokovic and his fans, and called Djokovic “overrated” and a “has been.”
These along with a couple more events demonstrate just how rude and inconsiderate the reports were to the players in the tournament.
According to bleacherreport.com, Shelton said, “I feel like broadcasters should be helping us grow our sport and help these athletes who just won matches on the biggest stage enjoy one of their biggest moments.”
Aside from the crowds and reports, Jannik Sinner, World No. 1, only lost two sets total throughout the whole tournament.
During the men’s finals, Sinner played against Zverev, World No. 2, and beat him in three straight sets. Despite winning in three straight sets, the two players had many great rallies, and it was a well-deserved win by Zverev.
With this, Sinner claimed the 2025 Australian Open Men’s champion title.
Overall, the Australian Open delivered as always, and will be back again for 2026.
