Dallas Woman Walks Out of Her First Date Before It Even Starts After Learning Her 'Brunch for Two' Was Secretly a Double Date for Four

A Dallas woman’s first date took an unexpected turn when she discovered she was not actually meeting just one person for brunch, but had unknowingly signed up for a double date she never agreed to. Her story has since gone viral, leaving viewers split on whether she handled it perfectly or whether things could have gone differently.

How the Date Started

TikTok creator Isabelle (@belletreat) shared her first date gone wrong in a video that now has over 407,000 views and more than 2,000 comments. She opens by venting about the Dallas dating scene in general, calling the men she has encountered “boys” and joking she could make an entire series about how rough it has been.

This particular story, however, was a new low for her. The two had met online and agreed to meet in person for dinner, but he ended up canceling at the last minute because of a hair appointment. He rescheduled for brunch the next day and seemed genuinely excited about it.

When Isabelle arrived, things still seemed promising. She described him as cute, and they slid into the same side of the booth together, which she initially found “cute and fun.”

Where It All Went Downhill

“This is where it all goes downhill,” Isabelle says in the video.

When the waitress came over and asked if it would be a table for two, Isabelle confirmed it would be. That is when her date dropped the surprise.

“Actually, no,” he said, revealing it was actually going to be a party of four.

Isabelle initially thought it was a joke and laughed it off, but the confusion grew when the waitress left four glasses of water on the table. When she pressed him for an explanation, her date admitted that his friend also had a first date planned for the same day, so he decided it would be a good idea to combine both dates into one.

How She Responded

Isabelle made it clear she was not interested in meeting three new people at once when she had only signed up for one date with one person.

“So why did you tell me as I was cornered in a booth and now I’m trapped?” she asked the camera. “I feel uncomfortable.”

She acknowledged that meeting a partner’s friends can be appropriate in other situations, but argued it was completely inappropriate to spring it during a first date, let alone turn it into a surprise double date. She told her date she was going to leave.

His response only made things worse: “Yeah, please leave before my friends get here so I can make him an excuse on why you left.”

Isabelle pushed back, insisting he tell his friend the truth about how he had “blindsided” her. She ultimately left the restaurant before the other couple arrived, ending the video by asking her viewers how they would have reacted in the same situation.

Not the First Time Women Have Walked Out Mid-Date

This kind of story has become increasingly common, with women across the country sharing their own first-date horror stories, including several where they had to get up and leave mid-meal. In one widely shared story, a woman who had clearly communicated her boundaries before a Hinge date had those boundaries completely ignored, prompting her to stand up for herself and leave her date stunned at the table. In another case, a woman left simply because her date could not be bothered to engage in conversation or show any enthusiasm.

Viewers Rally Behind Her

The comments section quickly filled with support for Isabelle’s decision to walk away. One comment with over 4,000 likes read:

“I’m an older millennial and I’ve seen a couple videos of girls walking out on first dates and I just wanted to say, I am so proud of you girls. Standing up for your boundaries and comfort levels is so impressive.”

Other reactions included:

  • “Let’s normalize walking out the moment it gets weird. you did the right thing. You’re a positive role model,” one viewer wrote.
  • “I walked out on a date a couple of weeks ago and I’ve never felt more powerful,” another shared.
  • “Lost me at hair appointment,” one commenter joked.
  • “I would have stayed and acted more interested in his buddy than him,” another suggested.

One viewer even called out to the other woman involved in the double date setup, writing: “This is me summoning the other girl to the comment section. May she find this and tell us what happened after you left…”

A Growing Trend in Modern Dating

Isabelle’s story adds to a growing wave of women publicly sharing their decisions to walk away from dates the moment something feels off, a trend that many online are calling a healthy shift toward prioritizing personal boundaries and comfort over social pressure to stay polite.
