Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence sustained a concussion during the team’s week thirteen game against the Houston Texans. The injury occurred late in the second quarter when Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair delivered a late and forceful hit as Lawrence was sliding to avoid contact.
Lawrence showed signs of a traumatic brain injury. He was carted off the field and ruled out for the remainder of the game. Despite the severity of the incident, Lawrence was later seen walking out of the stadium with his wife and shared on social media that he was feeling better.
The Jaguars, now 2-10, are unlikely to make the playoffs, which may influence the team’s approach to Lawrence’s recovery. Head coach Doug Pederson criticized the dangerous play. Backup quarterback Mac Jones replaced Lawrence in the game but could not prevent a Jaguars defeat.
