The Bishop Kenny football team made a strong first impression during the opening home game of the season, defeating Episcopal 42-3 on August 13, 2024. It was the Crusaders’ sixth straight win at William Johnston Stadium and a long flight home for the Eagles. The student section showed their support in a sea of red to match the players uniforms.
Quarterback Senior Derek Heideman threw for 373 yards and five touchdowns. One of his favorite targets, Senior JP Donovan had 173 yards receiving and two touchdowns including an 80 yarder. “Honestly man, I just wanted to celebrate with my teammates,” Donovan added “We’re just getting started.” And what a start it has been for the Crusaders scoring 42 points in each of their first two games. Kenny will look to build on their 2 and 0 start when they travel to Tocoi Creek Friday night at 7pm.
