In “Wonka,” adventure meets a healthy dose of mischief that reveals the classic character’s origin story. The movie focuses on Willy Wonka’s life before he became the infamous chocolatier, highlighting that getting into the chocolate business was anything but easy for Wonka as he had to face a greedy cartel of chocolatiers, a depraved laundry shop owner and corrupt policemen. Despite all these challenges, Wonka, with the help of some friends, finds a way to accomplish his dreams, which can be inferred from the original Willy Wonka movie.
“Wonka” was directed by Paul King and stars Timothée Chalamet, Olivia Colman, Hugh Grant and Rowan Atkinson. Considering the star-studded cast and swell of excitement around the movie, it had a budget of $125 million. The movie is well worth the excitement with its interesting, well put together plot and amazing set design that transports you to a colorful world of wonder.
The plot follows through with twists and turns, making you not want to look away for a second for fear of missing something, whilst the background and set truly takes you to the magical world of Wonka.
