On Feb. 14, 2025, Pope Francis was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital due to a respiratory tract infection.

According to the Vatican, the Holy See Press Office gave an update to the Pope’s health, stating that his condition is complex because it is considered a “polymicrobial infection.”

When the Vatican medical team issued a follow-up chest CT scan, they found the Pope to have bilateral pneumonia, a disease affecting both lungs.

Pope Francis, since admitted, has received antibiotics, blood transfusions, supplemental oxygen, and further treatment.

While Pope Francis was battling pneumonia, the Press Office revealed that he was making use of his time through rest, prayer, and reading.

The Vatican’s most recent update on Mar. 3 reveals that Pope Francis has slept well through Sunday night and is continuing his therapies. He remains receiving supplemental oxygen.

Despite his condition, Pope Francis participated in Holy Mass on Sunday along with his caretakers, and spent time in prayer and rest for the rest of the day.

On Wed., Feb. 26, Bishop Kenny shared to Instagram a framed picture of the Pope. The caption reflected on the Mass that Fr. Peter offered for Pope Francis, urging the community to continue praying for his healing and strength.
