Held annually every March in Ponte Vedra, The Tournament Players Club (TPC) PLAYERS Championship is a golf tournament that attracts around 175,000 people each year.
But what makes this golf tournament so attractive for the younger generations? Is it the staple sugary lemonade, Instagram photo opportunities, socializing, or is it the interest in watching golf?
Two time attendee, Senior Bridget Lawrence is planning on going again this year. While watching golf isn’t something she does regularly, “doing something different is fun,” Lawrence said. She enjoys going to TPC to spend time with friends, and has become more interested in the sport over the years.
Another possible reason for the high attraction is the annual concert that takes place on the 17th hole. This year, country music singer and songwriter Jordan Davis will headline the 2025 Military Appreciation Day concert on March 11.
In my own experience, I grew up dreading going to the Players each year with my dad. When I got into highschool, I was shocked to notice that many of my friends were interested in going. What I thought was a niche tradition for me and my family, was actually an event that people, specifically girls my age, wanted to attend.
This year, the championship will take place on March 11. to 16. Tickets start at around 95 dollars, and are available for purchase on Ticketmaster.com.
The Players tournament is for people of all ages, no matter the reason for going: watching golf, socializing, or getting some sun.
