Having a pet is more than just having a furry friend to hang out with. They can help students feel happier, less stressed, and even more responsible. Whether it’s a dog, cat, fish, or even a hamster, having a pet at home can make a big difference in a student’s life.

School can be stressful. There are tests, homework, and busy schedules. But pets can help students relax. Studies show that spending time with animals can lower stress and make people feel happier. Petting a dog or cat can help calm nerves after a long day.

Freshman Olivia Grippi shared how her two kittens have helped her:
“Whenever I feel stressed, I just sit with my kittens. They make me feel relaxed and happy. It’s nice to have them around when I need a break from schoolwork.”

Taking care of a pet is a big responsibility. Pets need food, water, and attention every day. Students who have pets learn to manage their time better. They have to take care of their pet while also doing homework and chores. This helps them become more responsible.

Sometimes, it can be hard to make friends or start conversations. But pets can help! Talking about pets is a great way to connect with others. Having a pet can also help students feel less lonely. Pets give love and comfort, which makes students feel better when they are sad or stressed.

Playing with pets is a fun way to stay active. Dogs need walks, and even playing with a cat can get students moving. Exercise helps students feel more energized and focused, which can help them do better in school.

Pets do more than just keep students company. They help with stress, teach responsibility, and even improve social skills. Whether it’s a dog, cat, or even a small pet like a fish, animals bring happiness to students’ lives. So, if you have a pet, take a moment to appreciate them—they might be helping you more than you realize!
