The Bishop Kenny varsity volleyball team played Bolles High School on Tuesday September 18. The game followed the junior varsity win earlier that night. The long time rivals played three long matches and Bishop Kenny came out on top. This game was highly anticipated by many students and it showed at the game. The student section was Jags themed. Many students turned out and turned the crowd teal and black. Majed Hassan and Chris Marlow led cheers for the crowd and spurred the team on.
The offense was led by seniors Josephine Morrill and Baleigh Gillispie. Morrill played outside hitter and came through with many kills. Morrill plays both on offense and defense. Gillispie held the middle blocker position. She blocked many hits from the Bolles team and scored many points in this way.
Brigid Kiely and Cassidy Lunitz carried the defense. The pair received serves left and right. Kiely plays in the libero position and only plays on defense. The libero position is special as when the girls switch out the team does not use a substitute . When the team rotates she switches with Gillispie. Lunitz also plays only defense and is subbed in and out with one of three different girls who play offense.
