Last Friday, Mar. 4, 12 Junior Ladies competed in the annual Miss BK Pageant.

The ladies were scored based on four categories, Interview, Talent, Formal Wear, and Pre-recorded interview questions. There were also special awards based on criteria throughout preparation for the pageant.

The interview and pre-recorded question sections were done prior to the show part of the competition.

The show was hosted by Frankie Alvarez and Mark Pritchard, and the formal wear section was announced by the Miss BK 2021 contestants, Sophia Parry, Rose Montana and Kalia Smith.

The first half of the pageant consisted of the talent showcase and contestant’s answers to the pre-recorded question,

“Tell me about a difficult situation when it was desirable for you to keep a positive attitude. What did you do?”

Following the talent portion, there was a brief intermission.

The second half of the pageant consisted of the formal wear section and awards. As the contestants presented their walks and chosen dresses, a list of their accomplishments throughout high school were read out along with their future plans.

There were performances by the Smith sisters who did Polynesian dance and the BK elite dance team before the final section and while tabulating results.

The long awaited award section began with Miss BK 2021, Sophia Parry, giving her farewell speech. After a long awaited crowning, Miss Bishop Kenny 2022 is Anabel Macchi, with first runner-up Kylie Beck, and second runner-up Lilly Smiths.

Special awards were as follows, Miss Congeniality to Sofia Lopez, Most Photogenic and Most Talented to Kylie Beck, Scholastic Award and Top Interview to Anabel Macchi, Service Award to Lilly Smiths and Director’s Choice award to Emily Malzahn.
